The above diagram shows the basic 7 chords. The e line indicates the high or thin string on the guitar. The number on that line under the specific chord tell which fret to place your finger on in order to make part of the chord. For example: Look at line A and look under C. The position for your finger should be on the third fret on the A string. Now as the A chord requires three fingers to play you must decide which fingers to put on each string. You need a finger on the B string at the second fret, a finger on the G string at the second fret, and a finger on the D string at the second fret. The easiest way to do this is put your pinky on the B string at the second fret, your ring finger on the G string at the second fret, and your middle finger on the D string at the second fret. follow the same procedure for all of the chords. At first the positions of your hands might hurt and the strings will not sound right. When playing a B or and F chord you much lay your first finger completely over all of the string in order to form teh full chord. For example: The F chord is made by placing the index finger over all the strings on the first fret. Then put your middle finger on the A string at the 3rd fret, put your ring finger on the D string at the third fret, and place your pinky on the G string at the second fret.
